mindful grieving class

- live | 6 week class -

Grief is a NATURAL response to loss.

It’s both a universal and completely unique experience.

Then why does it feel so hard? Why do we feel so clueless in what to do when we or someone we love is grieving? Why do we google search “is it normal for a grieving person to…” every time there is a shift? If grief is “natural” and universal, then why are so many of us struggling to find meaningful ways to be wit and move through our grief?

Mindful Grieving explores the context of grieving in modern culture. We will explore the  historical, cultural, spiritual, and medical landscapes that surround grieving and we will explore meaningful and personal ways to engage with grief in your own lives and communities. Mindful Grieving is designed to help us heal ourselves and our communities from an informed, empathetic, and curious perspective.

In this 6 week live class we will cover…

Modern day love & loss.

The historical, spiritual, medical, and cultural landscapes of Grief:  What influences our current understanding of and relationship with grief?

The spiritual, physical, and emotional impact of grief on an individual, community, and environment

The role of Mindfulness in life, love, and loss.

Skills and practices for Mindful Grieving - individually, communally, and with the natural world.

I’m Alyssa Rose.

I am a death doula, grief guide, massage therapist and energy worker in Portland, Oregon. I find deep inspiration from the land and waters that surround me and I am passionate about co-creating a grief literate culture. For me, this means learning to tend to our inner worlds gently and fiercely so we grow strong in our capacity to hold ourselves and each other through the wild range of human emotions and experiences.

I have been supporting dying and grieving people in a variety of ways since 2014 including working as a hospice massage therapist, volunteering with End of Life Choices and Dougy Center, and working as a death doula and grief integration guide through my private practice. I host in-person and online grief tending heart circles and I am a licensed massage therapist, Reiki practitioner, and ceremonialist.

I am excited to share the space of this container together and learn through each other’s experiences, cultures, upbringings, and to share what I have learned with you thus far in my personal research, exploration, and experiences with Grief and grieving mindfully.
